The rules
and procedures for admission are stipulated in the articles of the association
(Art. 5 and 6) and in the internal regulations (§ 2 and 3) which define
the requirements and the evaluation criteria.
Stage 1: initiation of the procedure
The procedure is initiated upon reception of the application addressed to the President of the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles
Stage 2: appointment of an evaluation committee
The secretary general informs the members of the board about the application received and its eligibility

This committee comprises as a rule :
· in the case of an application by a school of management
In the case of an application by an institution with various specialities the board decides upon the composition of the evaluation committee.
After reception of their mandate and of the evaluation form, the reporters/secretaries of the committee contact the applicant and visit the institution in order to assess, by means of quantitative and qualitative criteria (as defined in the internal regulations) whether the requirements for admission are met.
The visit to the institution is followed either by a written report, submitted to the board of directors, or by a request for further information.
The report is submitted to the board, which may accept or reject the application, or postpone the decision.
The decision must be stated in the proceedings of the board meeting and is reported in writing to the applicant.
Remarks
There are two types of evaluation form (for engineering and management schools). The relevant form is used according to the application.
The above mentioned procedure prevails for admission as "active member" (director of a French institution) and simplified procedure is applied for "corresponding" and "associate" members. The board decides for each case.
